The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, September 12, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 784,500 products to Authorized Purchasers last week, down slightly from the 880,000 the Mint sold in last week’s report.
As is usually the case each week, the silver American Eagle one-ounce bullion coin was the top seller for the Mint last week. 750,000 of the coins were sold to Authorized Purchases, accounting for 96% of all bullion sales the Mint reported. With this weeks sales now considered, the Mint has sold 23,690,500 silver American Eagle bullion coins this year. Meanwhile, the second top seller was the one-ounce gold American Eagle. That bullion coin had a solid 19,500 coins & ounces sold last week. That puts its 2021 sales total now at 765,500. That total puts it well past the sales total of 2020 (747,500) with just over a quarter of the year left.
The only other American Eagle bullion product sold last week according to the Mint was the 1/10th ounce coin. 5,000 of those were sold to Authorized Purchasers last week. There were no reported sales for the 1/2-ounce, 1/25th-ounce, or the Platinum Eagle last week.
Rounding out the bullion sales report is the American Buffalo. 10,000 of the one-ounce gold coins were sold last week, putting its sales total at 245,500 for 2021. This weeks sales also means that the Buffalo has outsold its 2020 total of 242,000.
