The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, September 26, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 565,000 bullion products to Authorized Purchasers. This is down significantly from last week’s 1.5 million products sold.
The one ounce silver American Eagle bullion coin was the top seller last week, with 510,000 coins sold to Purchasers. That puts the total sales of the silver Eagle at 25.675 million coins for the year. Its gold counterpart, the one ounce gold American Eagle, also had strong sales last week with 18,500 coins sold. Those sales pushed the total sales of the one ounce gold Eagle to 813,500.
The fractional Eagle coins also saw sales last week with the 1/10th ounce seeing the highest sales total. 25,000 of the smallest fractional gold American Eagle were sold while 2,000 of the 1/25th ounce and 1,000 of the 1/2 ounce coins were sold respectively. Indeed, the only American Eagle bullion product that did not register sales last week was the one ounce platinum Eagle.
Turning to the one ounce American Buffalo gold coin, it too saw good sales last week. 8,500 of the coins were sold to Authorized Purchases, putting its sales total at 259,500 coins for the year.
As we enter the final quarter of 2021, only the one ounce silver Eagle and platinum Eagle have not matched their sales totals for last year.
