The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, September 19, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 1,524,000 products to Authorized Purchasers. This is over twice as much as the Mint reported selling last week.
The top selling bullion product last week was the silver American Eagle. The one ounce silver coin saw 1,475,000 coins sold to Authorized Purchasers in the last week. For 2021, there have now been 25.1655 million silver American Eagles sold. That puts the Mint easily ahead on pace of its record sales for last year. Meanwhile, the gold American Eagle one ounce coin also saw healthy sales last week. 29,500 of the 99.99% pure gold one ounce coins were sold. That puts the 2021 sales total at 795,000, 50,000 more than all of the sales of the coin last year.
The fractional gold American Eagle coins, the 1/2 ounce, 1/25th ounce and 1/10th ounce, all saw sales last week. 3,000 of the 1/2 ounce coins were purchases while 6,000 of the 1/25th ounce coins were sold. The 1/10th ounce saw 5,000 coins sold in the last week. Indeed, the only American Eagle bullion product that did not register sales was the one ounce platinum coin.
Turning to the American Buffalo one ounce gold coin, Authorized Purchasers acquired 5,500 of the coins last week. That puts its sales total for the year at 251,000 which has already surpassed 2020 sales totals.
