The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, October 17, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 37,000 bullion coins in the last week. This is down 145,000 coins the Mint reported selling last week.
In a rare turn, the Mint reported no sales of the one ounce silver American Eagle. Normally this bullion coin is the top seller each week. However, there were 12,000 of the one ounce gold American Eagle bullion coins sold. The coins sold for this past week now puts the 2021 sales total for the one ounce gold Eagle at 907,000. This is well past the 202 total sales of 747,500. The only other gold American Eagle reporting sales was the 1/10th ounce fractional. 5,000 of those were sold last week.
Turning to the American Buffalo, the one ounce gold bullion coin had a reported 20,000 coins sold last week. That puts the total sales for 2021 at just under 300,000 (292,000).
