The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report to Sunday, November 28, 2021. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold just 34,500 bullion coins in the last week. As reported last week, the Mint has now stopped production of 2021 American Eagle bullion coins and is focusing on 2022. Authorize Purchasers will be making their final orders of 2021 in the next week.
Only two of the six American Eagle bullion coins sold by the Mint to Authorized Purchasers had sales according to the Mint’s report. The one ounce gold American Eagle saw sales of 24,000 coins in the past week while the 1/25th ounce gold Eagle saw 2,000 coins sold. Meanwhile, the American Buffalo one ounce gold coin also had reported sales in the past week. 8,500 of the coins were purchased by Authorized Purchasers. That pushes its total sales for 2021 to 335,500.
With production now focusing on 2022, it is likely that the sales report for the remainder of this year will show limited sales. Authorized Purchasers will be able to make their first 2022 purchases at the end of the year but you can expect reports to be light overall.
