United States Mint Bullion Sales Report – January 16, 2022

The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, January 16, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 588,000 bullion coins, with all products except the one-ounce American Eagle Platinum coin registering sales to Authorized Purchasers.

The top selling bullion product for the Mint last week was the one-ounce American Eagle Silver coin. 500,000 of the coins were reported sold. For the month, the Mint has now sold 3,501,000 silver Eagles, which puts it on pace to top January 2021 sales of 4.775 million. Turning to the gold American Eagle coins, all of the bullion coins offered by the Mint registered sales last week. The one-ounce American Eagle Gold coin saw sales of 14,000, putting its sales for the month at 87,500. The 1/2-ounce American Eagle had reported sales of 18,000 coins last week, which puts its total at 44,000 for the month. That total is double the number of 1/2-ounce Eagles sold in January 2021. The 1/25th-ounce Eagle had a reported 14,000 coins sold in the last week, put its total sales for the month at 52,000. This, like the 1/2-ounce Eagle, already surpasses sales totals for January 2021. Finally, the 1/10th-ounce Eagle had an impressive 35,000 coins reported sold in the past week. That puts its sales total for the year at 150,000, well beyond the 95,000 that were sold in the same month last year.

Considering the one-ounce American Buffalo Gold coin, it had reported sales of 7,000 coins in the past week. That puts its sales total at 42,000 for the year. This puts it well on pace to top the January 2021 sales total of 61,500 coins with two full weeks remaining in the month.
