The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic sales report for the seven-day period ending on Sunday, April 10, 2022. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 233,439 numismatic products in the last week. This is up significantly from the just over 69,000 that the Mint reported in sales last week.
For the year, the Mint has now sold 9.147 million products to investors and collectors.
Unsurprisingly, the top selling product last week was the Mint’s newest release, the 2022 Proof Set. The annual set had an impressive 222,746 units sold last week, an impressively strong first week in sales compared to its 2021 and 2020 counterparts. Interestingly, the 2021 Proof Set was the second top seller for the Mint, but a distant second with just 1,505 sets sold.
The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor commemoratives continued their strong showing since their release earlier this year. The Proof Silver Dollar, Uncirculated Silver Dollar, and Uncirculated Half Dollar took the third through fifth top sales positions while the Proof Half Dollar also registered sales to put it seventh on the top ten list. Meanwhile, the Negro Leagues Baseball Proof Silver Dollar was the ninth top seller in this week’s report.
The remaining 2021 annual sets continued to have trickle sales this past week. The 2021 Uncirculated Coin Set had sales of 735 sets, making it the sixth top seller while the 2021 Silver Proof Set was seventh with 717 sets sold. These 2021 products will remain available as long as the Mint has them in stock.
