The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, April 10, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of an impressive 485,500 bullion coins. This is up from the 38,000 that the Mint reported last week. According to the Mint’s report, all but one bullion products offered by the Mint to Authorized Purchasers had sales registered.
The top selling bullion product for the Mint last week was the one-ounce silver American Eagle with reported sales of 425,000 coins. This pushes total sales of the coin to over eight million for the year. That sales total is well off of last year’s record sales pace by over four million coins. Meanwhile, all of the gold American Eagle coins had sales reported in the past week. The one-ounce gold American Eagle had reported sales of 21,500 coins, putting its total sales for 2022 at 371,500 coins. Meanwhile, the 1/2-ounce had sales of 1,000 coins, the 1/25th-ounce had sales 6,000 coins, and the 1/10-ounce had sales of 25,000 coins. Indeed, the only American Eagle bullion product that did not have reported sales was the one-ounce platinum American Eagle.
Turning to the one-ounce American Buffalo gold coin, the Mint reported that 7,000 of these coins were sold to Authorized Purchasers last week. That puts its sales total at 161,500 so far in 2022.
