The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, October 23, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. According to the report, the Mint sold 933,500 bullion coins to Authorized Purchasers. This is up significantly from last week’s report and only the one-ounce American Eagle platinum bullion coin had no reported sales in the past week.
The one-ounce silver American Eagle was, as is usually the case, the top selling bullion coin for the United States Mint last week. The Mint reported that 850,000 of the coins were sold, pushing total sales for the year to just over 14 million. Sales are some 12 million coins behind last year’s total through October 2021 with little chance of them catching up considering the Mint’s planchet shortages.
All of the gold American Eagle bullion products were sold in the past week to Authorized Purchasers according to the Mint’s report. 54,500 one-ounce gold Eagle’s were reported sold while the 1/2-ounce had sales of 1,000 coins, the 1/25th-ounce had 2,000, and the smallest fractional 1/10th-ounce had sales of 15,000 coins.
Turning to the American Buffalo one-ounce gold bullion coin, the Mint indicates that 11,000 were sold in the last week. Sales for 2022 have already exceeded last years total and with this week’s sales figures considered, stands at 398,500 coins.
