The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, March 26, 2023. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. The Mint reported 603,000 bullion coin sales to Authorized Purchasers last week, with sales reported across all products except the fractional gold American Eagles.
As usual, the one-ounce silver American Eagle was the top seller, with 450,000 coins sold in the past week. That puts total sales for the year at 5.749 million, down from the 7.81 million the Mint had sold through this week last year. Its counterpart, the one-ounce gold American Eagle was the second top seller with 107,000 bullion coins sold last week to Authorized Purchasers. It is also down in sales when you compare totals year-over-year.
For the first time in 2023, the one-ounce platinum American Eagle bullion coins has appeared in the Mint’s bullion report. 7,500 of the coins were sold last week. Rounding out the report was the one-ounce American Buffalo with 38,500 coins sold last week.
