The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, August 20, 2023. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. The Mint reported 784,500 bullion coin sales in the past week, with reported sales across just four of the seven products available for purchase by Authorized Purchasers.
The top-selling bullion product for the United States Mint last week was the one-ounce silver American Eagle. The Mint reported that 760,000 coins were sold to Authorized Purchasers, accounting for 97% of all weekly bullion sales. With last week’s sales, the Mint now reports that 13.398 million silver American Eagles have been sold this year. That is nearly 1 million silver Eagles more than the Mint had reported sold through August 2022.
The one-ounce gold American Eagle was the second top seller last week, with reported sales of 8,000 coins last week. That puts total sales at 682,500 for 2023, slightly behind the sales pace of the one-ounce gold Eagle last year. The only other American Eagle bullion product with reports sales last week was the 1/10th-ounce gold Eagle with 5,000 coins sold.
Turning to the American Buffalo gold bullion coin, the Mint reported sales of 11,500 coins last week. For the year, 304,500 one-ounce gold Buffalos have been sold to Authorized Purchasers.
