The United States Mint will release the Harriet Tubman commemorative coins and sets later this week. Seven products will be available from the Mint starting Thursday, January 4th at Noon Eastern. Demand is expected to be high for the Tubman commemorative coins, largely due to her significant role in United States history but also because the Mint did not release any commemorative coins in 2023. The United States Mint has released the official, high-resolution images of the 2024 Harriet Tubman commemorative coins. The Harriett Tubman Commemorative Coin Act was signed into law in July 2022 by President Biden and authorized the Mint to produce the commemoratives. Specifically, the law calls for the minting of 50,000 $5 gold coins, 400,000 $1 silver coins, and 750,000 Half Dollar clad commemorative coins to be produced to honor the bicentennial of Tubman. The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) released the candidate design images for the 2024 Greatest Generation commemoratives after the meeting on Tuesday, April 18th.
