The United States Mint has released the high resolution images of the upcoming 2022 American Eagle Platinum bullion coin. The design of the coin is identical to the design of last year’s coin and, indeed, it is the same it has been since is release in 2002. The coin carries a face value of $100 and is made of 99.9% pure platinum.
Like other bullion coins offered by the United States Mint, the platinum Eagle carries no Mint Mark but it is produced at the West Point Facility.
The Obverse of the coin features the Statue of Liberty and carries the 2022 year mark along with LIBERTY and “In God We Trust”.
The Reverse features a Bald Eagle in flight over a rising sun and carries the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA banner, $100 value, and “.9995 Platinum 1 oz.” moniker.
To purchase this bullion coin, you will need to go to one of the Mint’s Authorized Purchasers. You can find the list of Authorized Purchasers on the Mint’s site and can contact them directly. USCoinNews recommends APMEX for your bullion purchases. As of this posting, the platinum Eagle is not currently available for Authorized Purchasers to buy from the United States Mint. Sales should being later this month with availability to end customers at a later time. Previous year’s releases are available from most Authorized Purchasers.
