The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report for American Eagle and American Buffalo bullion coins. This summary report provides sales details through Sunday, February 27, 2022. The bullion sales report reflects bullion coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. During the previous week, the Mint reported sales of 602,800. All but the 1/2-Ounce gold American Eagle registered sales to Authorized Purchasers last week. This sales total is roughly 100,000 coins higher than the Mint’s reported sales in last week’s report.
The top selling bullion coin last week for the Mint was the silver American Eagle. The one-ounce coin had a reported sales of 519,500 coins. That has pushed its total sales for the year to just over 6.5 million coins. This is well behind the record setting pace of sales in 2021 by over 1 million coins. Meanwhile, the gold variant of the one-ounce American Eagle had a strong sales week. 35,500 of the gold Eagles were sold to Authorized Purchasers last week, pushing its sales total to 190,500 for the year. This too is well behind the pace of sales by this point last year.
Turning to the fractional American Eagle gold bullion coins, the Mint reported sales of the 1/25-ounce (2,000 coins) and the 1/10th-ounce (10,000 coins) but there were no registered sales of the 1/2-ounce coin.
The platinum one-ounce American Eagle saw sales for the first time in 2022 last week. 25,800 of the coins were reported sold by the Mint which is nearly identical to sales total at this point last year.
Finally, the one-ounce American Buffalo gold bullion coin had 10,000 coins in sales last week according to the Mint’s report. That puts its sales total for the year at 83,500.
For 2022, the Mint has now sold 7,133,800 bullion coins to A.P.s
