The United States Mint has updated its daily bullion sales report through Sunday, July 16, 2023. The bullion sales report reflects bullion American Eagle and American Buffalo coins that the Mint sold to Authorized Purchasers for the previous week and is different than the weekly numismatic product report. The Mint reported 667,500 bullion coin sales in the past week, with reported sales across four of the seven products available for purchase by Authorized Purchasers.
Last week’s top-selling bullion product for the Mint was the one-ounce silver American Eagle, with 641,000 coins sold. It accounted for 96% of all bullion sales for the Mint last week. For the year, the Mint has now sold 10.138 million silver Eagles. Its gold counterpart, the one-ounce gold American Eagle, was the second top seller at 17,500 coins. It was one of two gold American Eagle products with reported sales, with the 1/25th-ounce gold Eagle reporting 3,500 coins sold last week. The 1/2-ounce and 1/10th-ounce gold Eagles had no reported sales, nor the one-ounce platinum Eagle.
Turning to the one-ounce American Buffalo, the Mint reported that 5,500 gold coins were sold to Authorized Purchasers. This puts total sales at 279,000 for the year, one of the few bullion coins with a year-over-year sales increase in 2023.
