The United States Mint has released its Circulating Coin Production Report for December 2022, showing that 846.5 million coins were produced for circulation across the nation’s Mint facilities. The total production is the lowest of any month in 2022, not uncommon for the final two months of any calendar year as the Mint prepares for next year’s coin production. In a Press Release yesterday, the United States Mint announced that it has begun shipments of the first American Women Quarter of 2023, honoring Bessie Coleman. The coins, honoring the historic pilot is now being shipped from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint locations to the Federal Reserve. From there, the coins will be distributed to banks for circulation.
