United States Mint Director David Ryder has sent an email to all Mint customers, indicating that delays in Mint products and shipments could happen due to COVID-19. The Mint, which is part of the Federal government, is subject to rules put in place to combat the pandemic. That could, in short, lead to significant cut backs in staff. Sales of the 2020 American Eagle gold proofs have started off strong. The United States Mint reported that some 14,925 of the gold proofs were sold in the first 24 hours of availability. Mint Production Report – 1 Billion Coins Produced in February 2020

The United States Mint has released its February 2020 Mint Production Report, showing that just over one billion coins was produced for circulation in the month. In total, 1.094 billion coins were made in the month at the Denver and Philadelphia Mint locations. 608 million Lincoln Cent were produced across both facilities in February, each producing 304 million each.
