The United States Mint has released is Biennial report for 2018 to Congress and to the public. The report is the fourth such report released under the Coin Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act of 2010, Public Law 111-302, which authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to conduct R&D on alternative metallic materials for all circulating coins, with the goal of reducing production costs. US Mint Sells Out of 2019 Platinum American Eagle Bullion Coin

The special 2019 Platinum American Eagle bullion coin has officially sold out. The US Mint, which produced 40,000 of the coins in total, sold the last of them in April. The US Mint was limited to overall platinum bullion coin minting to 40,000 coins.
